I trained and worked as a physiotherapist for many years in the NHS, the majority of which I worked in the London Borough of Bromley as a children’s physiotherapist.
I gave up work to look after my mother-in-law when she moved in with us suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. When it became too difficult for us to look after her, I decided to return to work. However, this break gave me the opportunity I needed to take the plunge and do something I had been contemplating for a long time - working with my passion, animals!
I decided to become a pet groomer with the idea of offering an extended service for elderly and mobility impaired dogs and home visits for cats. So, I enrolled on a grooming course, passed my City & Guilds Level 3 exams with distinction, had an annexe built to our house, bought the best equipment and here I am, enjoying every minute of my new career (or ‘hobby’)!
Pets’ wise, we have had many over the years; long and short haired guinea pigs, small and giant rabbits, rats, hamsters, dogs and cats. At present, we have one dog and ten cats… 7 Maine Coons and 3 moggies, 2 of which are long haired as well. Lots of grooming!
